On the road again

Greetings from Victoria!  It has been a long time since I last wrote on my blog.  Thank you to those who called, concerned that something was wrong.  It is good to know that people care, and good to know people actually read this blog!

Winter at Dogstar Farm has reached the point where it was time for me to go south for 10 days.  Our winter has been an easy one.  Temperatures have been mild and the snow fall has been average.  The lake froze as usual in January.  It continues to heave and moan which I find pleasant to listen to at night, for some reason.  Even though the winter has been mild, possibly because of it, I came down with a wicked bug which infected my lungs and my sinus.  I was felled for a week then still feeling poorly for another 2 weeks.  I have not had the energy to write on the blog, nor had anything to write about, since most people will lose interest in a sick person going on about how rotten they feel!

Dennis has been teaching at the college.  We have had a few dogs in for boarding.  Things have been quiet so now is the time for me to head south.

I left Dogstar Farm on Friday morning.  I drove to Kamloops and was there for supper at daughter Susan's beautiful condo.  I stayed all day Saturday and Saturday night.  Sunday I left for Aldergrove, to visit my friend Lani.  The Coquihalla was looking pretty snowy and icy.  Even though I have very good studded winter tires, I drove to Cache Creek and took the Fraser Canyon to Hope, then on to Aldergrove/Langley.  Lani and I had a pleasant evening.  I left the next morning, catching the 11:00 a.m. ferry for Victoria.  At present I am in Victoria, enjoying the book stores, the cafes and Imax.  Imax has their film festival running until February 28th .  Since I have a seasons pass to Victoria Imax, I am bent on seeing all 6 films.  Tomorrow I will also spend the day downtown again.  I hope to go to the museum to see the photography display, plus see some more films.  The rhododendren shrubs are in bloom, along with the spring bulbs like snowdrops and crocuses.  So beautiful to see at this time of year.  I park in a parkade on View street, then walk all over downtown.  I truly am having the greatest time!  It is so good to catch up with friends and family, plus have the added bonus of green grass and flowers!

Our lambs are due end of March or early April, and our chicks are ordered to arrive May 3rd.  Another spring on Dogstar is about to begin.  Exciting days ahead.  So, for now, I will enjoy all that this beautiful city has to offer.  I have to admit, the thought of selling the farm and moving to Vancouver Island has crossed my mind more than once!

No pictures this time.   I will have to learn how to load pictures while I am away from my own computer.  I am sure there is a way, but that is a lesson for another day.

Bye for now.
