Good news! Jim is doing better! His scan showed his stroke was caused by a clot of some sort, rather than from bleeding. He is able to move his feet and arm on his left side so things are progressing quickly. This is such good news!
Today I spent the day, or most of it, trying to build a poster for our sheep pen at the fall fair. We take the sheep tomorrow to the fair grounds. They will be judged on Saturday morning. Our identity must be kept hidden so I assume we don't put up our poster until after the judging on Saturday. I really don't know what the protocol is. There is basically no information other than what is in the fair booklet which doesn't address those kind of things. I had big ideas about our poster, but in the end it is a piece of cardboard with some pictures and information on it.
Given the amount of time I have to prepare, not to mention the skill I lack, this is the best I could do. I have 4 boxes of Susan's scrapbooking stuff but it would have taken me longer to go through it all than I had time for, so I just created the above poster. It will have to do.
I picked currants the other day. We have a red currant bush and a white currant bush.
I managed to get a full gallon bucket of white currants but just a quarter gallon of red. The red currants used to be more plentiful than the white ones, but this year it is reversed.
I have extracted the juice. By combining both the red and the white I have enough for one batch of jelly. I was surprised at how little juice they produced. So I will have a rose jelly which should taste pretty good. It looks like I won't get to making it until Monday though, so I will put it, along with the beet juice that still awaits the jelly pot, into the freezer until things slow down a bit.
We have to go and put a new collar on one of the ram lambs. He has out grown his puppy collar. The other lamb needs his collar let out. This is good. They are both growing well. We will weigh them tomorrow before we take them to the fair so we can brag about their weights and perhaps make a sale.
Not too exciting here these days. Temperatures are waaaay above normal. Also, beautiful displays of northern lights the two nights ago. Ok, better tend to the lambs. bye for now.
