Today we found out our friend Jim had a stroke last night. The moment we found out we readied ourselves for a trip to town to see how he and his wife Leah are doing. Jim and Leah live at the head of the lake, about 23 km past us, but Jim was in the Burns Lake hospital..
Jim looked like a computer with all the wires and cords running into and out of him. He was sent to Prince George for a CT scan. Depending on the results of the scan he will either come back to Burns Lake hospital or stay in Prince George. I called Leah after 8 pm to see if she had heard anything. So far, nothing. The nurse had told Leah that Jim should be back by 6 pm. Leah is worried but cannot seem to get answers from anyone. They can't tell her when or if he will be back, whether or not he had the scan yet, or anything. So now Jim is in Prince George, Leah is in Burns Lake not knowing what is next.
This will likely be a life changing event for Jim and Leah. We are saddened to see our friends go through this. It really has made Dennis and me reflect on the brevity of life and how we need to embrace each moment. Jim is my age. This is sobering indeed.
